18 January 2022. All events and classes are back on with our new Covid-19 policy
We’re very happy to say that at the start of this year, all of our classes and events will be running. As of the beginning of January 2022, we are installing a new Covid-19 policy for our classes and events, until further notice.
Given the current Covid situation, and in line with current government guidance for dancehalls, we kindly request that anyone attending our classes or milongas EITHER
- be vaccinated with 2 doses of an approved vaccine (or one of the single-dose Janssen vaccine) OR
- have taken a PCR or rapid lateral flow test within the last 48 hours, OR
- be exempt from vaccination or vaccination and testing on the basis of a medical exemption or clinical trial participation.
You should take tests as late as possible before attending the event, ideally within 12 hours. This will strengthen the protection testing provides. We would also kindly request that, even if you are vaccinated and/or your test show a negative result, you do not come if you feel any Covid-19 symptoms. The easiest way to show this is with an NHS Covid Pass. Alternative proofs of a negative test result, such as an NHS Test and Trace email or text proof, are acceptable too. We will be requesting some evidence at classes and milongas until further notice.
More about the NHS Covid Pass, including details of how to access one, can be found on the UK Government website here.
There will be hand sanitiser and masks readily available at classes and milongas, as before. We would encourage people to do what they feel comfortable with; some people may want to swap partners, some not, and likewise with mask wearing.
We hope you can bear with us at the moment – there is no easy answer or solution to the current situation, and we’re trying to keep people as safe as possible whilst also staying open and providing our classes and events as we can. We can only hope that there will be more certainty soon!
26 June 2021. We are very sadly postponing tango classes again until further notice.
It is with bitter disappointment that we have decided to stop classes until further notice.
This is because Liverpool remains on the list of areas where the new Covid-19 variant (known as Delta) is spreading and is subject to updated Covid guidance.
In particular, the guidance is to keep 2 metres apart from people that you do not live with (unless you have formed a support bubble with them), including friends and family you don’t live with. This differs from areas not on the Delta variant list, where you can make a personal choice on whether to keep your distance from friends and family. The guidance is also to minimise travel in and out of affected areas. We also note that Covid-19 cases in Liverpool continue to rise (273 cases in 100,000 this week) and we are anecdotally aware that an increasing number of people are needing to self-isolate.
We will continue to review government advice and infection rates and re-open as soon as we feel it is safe to do so.
Realistically however, Ullet Road church will be closed 26/07 until 06/09, so it is likely that we won’t have any lessons until 07/09 at the earliest.
We might organise some summer workshops with Paris Allen in August, at a different place, if the situation improves. Watch this space!
We were all very happy to be back and so are deeply frustrated to have come to this unpalatable decision. We feel however that it is the right thing to do.
The vaccine roll-out is undoubtably having a positive impact and we are very hopeful that we will be able to be able to re-open in September. We look forward to dancing with you all then!
Until then, stay safe and have a great summer.
20 May 2021. We will start tango classes again, with solo technique classes 7-8pm on Tuesdays.
We are very pleased to announce that we will slowly resume some tango activities in Liverpool. We will start on Tuesday 25 May 2021 at 7pm, with one class of solo dancing technique. Teacher is our lovely Paris Allen, and the cost is £6.50.
We might then add some classes with couple bubbles for June, if everything goes well, but will keep a close eye on numbers of cases and progress with vaccinations etc.
Prebooking is mandatory as we need to limit the numbers and keep a record of contact details in case we need to track and trace.
For prebooking, please click the button below:
We kindly ask you to follow our COVID guidelines below:
- Do not attend the class if you have symptoms of Covid19 (a high temperature; a new, continuous cough; a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste) or if you have been tested positive for SARS-Cov2 in the last 10 days
- We ask EVERYONE to wear a mask when entering the Church premises and to keep it on all time. Please come with your own mask (preferably washable)
- We provide hand sanitiser throughout the dance room and we request that everyone frequently sanitize their hands or wash their hands with soap. Please sanitise/wash your hands when entering the church hall and at the end of the class as well
- We will ensure a good ventilation of the room, by opening windows and doors
- We will limit the number of persons in the church hall to 20 students + teacher(s)
- Bring your own drink: the kitchen area will not be accessible
- Respect 2m distance when you sit down or dance solo
- Inform TangoAires if you are tested positive for SARS-Cov2 in the week following the class
- We encourage you to take a lateral flow test before attending the class
We are really looking forward to seeing everyone again, and hope we can continue to open up over time! Do let us know if you have any questions or comments.
21 April 2020. We’re running a series of online workshops while regular classes are postponed
We hope everyone is staying well at the moment.
Given the lack of opportunity for classes and milongas at the moment, we wanted to do something to support and maintain the tango community out there, while helping us keep in tip top tango shape for when we’re all able to dance together again.
With this in mind, we’re launching a series of Tuesday tango online workshops at 8pm. They won’t be every week, but new classes and workshops will be added below, as and when we announce them.
The classes will cost £5 (plus an optional donation if you can contribute), and all funds will go to the teacher, with some subsidies from TangoAires as well. If you would like to join the class, simply get in touch and we will provide our bank details for you to transfer the class fee. We’ll then forward the link for the class on zoom and just join on the right date and time to participate.
Tuesday 28 April – Our first teacher is Benjamin Galian, a fantastic teacher from Argentina, who will be teaching an hour long workshop ‘Perfecting your Pivots.’ This class is suitable for any levels, and for people dancing solo or in partners.
Tuesday 19 May – For our second online workshop, Emilia Andrada, a fabulous dancer and teacher from Buenos Aires will be teaching us about ‘Musicality for your Feet.’ Don’t miss it!
Tuesday 9 June – Join us online for ‘Technique for leaders and followers: Elegant Legs, Stable Core. Balance and lots of those all-important details‘ with the fantastic Jenny & Ricardo Oria, based in Edinburgh.
Future dates tbc
17th March 2020. All classes and milongas will be suspended due to Coronavirus.
It is with considerable regret that we have decided to cancel all classes and milongas with immediate effect until further notice. This includes private classes.
We’ve made this decision in order to do our best to limit the spread of the virus and avoid overwhelming our health services, aiming to limit the casualties as much as possible.
The Easter Social, which had been scheduled for Tuesday March 31st, is cancelled as well.
We’ll miss you all and look forward to dancing again once the situation is back to normal. Look after yourselves and keep healthy!
In the meantime,
- We recommend you follow government advice, particularly on regular and thorough hand washing.
- Don’t forget that people with underlying health issues or vulnerable family members may have particularly valid concerns.
- If you think you’ve been in close contact with someone with confirmed coronavirus, use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service to find out what to do.
- Join our WhatsApp group for all hot-off-the-press updates 🙂

Come and take part in our flashmob in Liverpool on Sunday 29th April
We will be holding our next flashmob this 29th April to coincide with the International Day of Dance.
We just set up a speaker and dance for an hour: it’s all very informal. It’s covered so we’re ok if it rains but remember the floor isn’t as smooth as usual so we don’t recommend your best shoes!
We’ll also be handing out a few fliers about our classes and milongas to any interested passers by who would like to know more about tango.
When?: 1pm – 2pm, Sunday 29th April
Where?: LiverpoolOne at Keys Court (between Hotel Chocolat, Next and Kiehl)
